Isolation Plays
- At the college level, no team is allowed to utilize an isolation play. This includes stationing a player(s) at half court so the defender(s) must stay 5 feet away, resulting in there no longer being a 5 on 5 situation.
- The first attempt will result in the stopping of play and a warning to the offending team.
- The second attempt (and all successive attempts) will result in a technical foul.
- The referees must use their discretion as to if the attempt is deliberate or not.
Screening- At the college level, you are only allowed to have one person set a screen on the ball-handler. No plays can have 2 or more people screen the same person.
Scoring
- There is no 3 point shot for the college level.
Defense
- Only man-to-man defense is allowed (including when allowed to press).
- Defenders must stay within 5 feet of the offensive player they are guarding. This begins at half court.
- No double team is allowed unless the ball enters the lane.
- Illegal defense: 1st and 2nd violation is a warning, 3rd violation is a technical foul. If both coaches agree, this can reset in the second half of the game. *It is up to the discretion of the referee to decide what is an illegal defense, not the coaches or board members.
